Principal’s Report
Hi Parents, Families, Caregivers and Community,
It is hard to believe, but we are well and truly on the home straight for 2023.
It has been an amazing year for the school, with so much to celebrate.
Our recent PAT data, which measures student achievement at the school, was excellent, with our student results in Reading and Maths among the best we have ever had. It has accented the high quality teachers we have, and affirmed what we see every day - the incredible group of young people we have, and how we all need to work together to ensure they have the very best possible opportunities, with their primary education such a cornerstone of their lives.
Our place at the heart of our Snug community is a central part of who we are, and we celebrate and are thankful for your involvement in our school this year. Last week’s Snug Jingles was a lovely evening, and having that opportunity to connect with you all reminds us that we truly are all in this together.
With community in mind, please take the time to reflect on the opportunity to be part of our School Association in 2024. Our association continues to do an incredible job of linking you to the school, and this year, has bought us together, as well as raised a significant amount of money to support the school and our students. I would like to thank Chris Morgan, the (outgoing) School Association chair, and the rest of the team, for their commitment to the school this year. Please touch base with me, or Chris, or any other association members, should you be considering putting your hand up next year – we would love to have a deeper conversation with you about how you might support the school moving forward.
Classes and teachers for 2024
Today your child(ren) were given their classes for 2024, and had the chance to meet next year’s teacher(s) and their classmates for next year. I want to acknowledge the huge amount of time and energy our teachers put into developing these classes – there is immense care and consideration given to the placement of each and every student.
Reports
Also being sent home today are the end of year reports. A 9-point scale and worded descriptor will appear on your child’s report for English, Maths, Science and HASS, with a five point scale for specialist subjects. The reports do not contain any written comments. Should you wish to discuss these reports with your child’s classroom teacher, please arrange a time.
Year 6 Graduation
Our Year 6 students are having their graduation night next week. Together, we will celebrate their successes in their time at Snug Primary School, and thank them for their contribution to our community.
Last Day
A reminder that the students’ last day of school is on Thursday December 21 and everyone is welcome to attend our final assembly at 10.00am in the gym. We will farewell our Year 6 students as well as our leaving staff at this time.
Kind regards

I wonder how it is you hope others will treat you? Or I guess a better question is, how are others treating you when you feel at your best?
As we potter along in our day-to-day lives we hope that we can be supportive of each other as a part of community together; that we might show kindness in the way that we talk to each other, and the way we interact. We trust that we will respect each other enough to have regard for their feelings, their wishes and their rights. And we want to treat each other with understanding. We really want to do all this, the way we wish others would treat us.
Our students have been working on the habit of the mind of community. They have been practising ways of putting these ideas into not just their thoughts but actions, both in their classroom and in the playground. Sometimes, I imagine, one can be harder than another. It’s a bit like when we as parents focus on “I’m going to try to be more calm” and then everything is going wonderful… until it’s time to walk out the front door and get in the car to go to school - 😉
Let’s help each other to try to work on this together, because that’s what community is all about - helping each other to be at our best. We saw it so excellently at our Snug Jingles last weekend - helping each other to pull it together to be at our best.
Doing it together, is going to be a lot better, than trying to do it alone so please just yell out if you need a hand!
Many Blessings
